education diary: CDAC ties up with KACE,Ghana

Rajat Moona,director general,C-DAC made the announcement during the visit of Dorothy K Gordon,director general,AITI KACE,Ghana,in Pune.

The Ministry of External Affairs and the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC) recently signed an agreement for two years support to India-Ghana Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence (KACE) at ICT in Accra with financial assistance of Rs 3.83 crore from the Government of India. Rajat Moona,director general,C-DAC made the announcement during the visit of Dorothy K Gordon,director general,AITI KACE,Ghana,in Pune. The project focuses on CDAC’s two main activities — high performance computing and advance IT training. AITI-KACE will be appointed as an Authorized Training Centre (ATC) of CDAC for two years and offer training in Advanced Computing (DAC),Advanced Computer Arts (DACA),Wireless & Mobile Computing (WiMC) and VLSI Design (PGVLSI). This is CDAC’s first ATC outside India.

Suryadatta Group of Institutes was felicitated with Education Excellence Award 2012 as the best integrated campus for higher studies in Pune. Sanjay B Chordiya,founder president and chairman,Suryadatta Group of Institutes,accepted the award. Brands Academy organised the event to felicitate India’s leading autonomous and private educational institutions.

Software professional from city chosen for Leadership
Master Class

PMI USA has selected Shantanu Bhamare,a Pune-based software professional for Leadership Institute Master Class (LIMC) 2013. The PMI Leadership Master Class is a year-long programme. As part of its Component Leaders’ professional development,PMI offers a one-year leadership course through the PMI Leadership Institute Meeting. The first of the group will be held in Marseille,France from May 1 to 3 this year. After this master class participants become ready to take up global leadership position in PMI.

Awards for composer,cardiologist

Composer and singer Hridaynath Mangeshkar and cardiologist Dr Ani Katdare will be felicitated for their outstanding contribution to the society at the 17 th foundation day of Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University. The awards consist of Rs 51,000 prize and a memento.

The event will be held at the BVP campus on Pune-Satara Road on April 26.

The university will also felicitate two teachers who have made significant contributions in the field of research or have shown continuous development in teaching,learning and research and extension activities.
