‘Don’t dispose inflammable objects’

Fire brigade officers have said that garbage chute can accumulate methane like gases if not cleaned regularly. They have also warned against disposing inflammable objects in these chutes. Fire brigade chief Prashant Ranpise said,“Garbage chutes are basically pipes that run on all the floors and have small openings on every floor. The wet garbage decomposes and releases gases at specific temperature.” He added,“Precaution must also be taken that no inflammable substance should be disposed in these chutes. The best way to avoid such accidents is regular maintenance and cleaning of these ducts.
