This actress is among the few with whom a conversation wouldn’t confine to the gamut of films. It traverses to her latest adventure destination, includes her much cherished annual trips to Ladakh, accents her views on social issues, informs about her current read and much more. Gul Panag certainly has many roles to play, not all seen on the screen. Chatting about them, explaining why her films are limited and in addition to addressing the students Panag was the chief guest at the inaugral ceremony of Symbhav 2010 the annual college festival organised by the Symbiosis Law School.

Having starred in the recently released Rann, the actress spoke about her keenness for good cinema. “The response was not a sufficient amount but I still think it’s a great film for the story shown and I stand by it. I appreciate Ramu’s work and it is important to work in films that will be counted irrespective of the fate of the film at the box office. Good films are a mirror of the society and the change that has occurred is reflected in our art which a very few directors and actors attempt to make. Abhay Deol for instance has tried to break the clutter and carve a niche constantly doing good cinema,” she adds.

Panag will be soon seen in Hello Darling directed by Manoj Tiwari and Fatso,a romantic comedy by Rajat Kapoor. Crowned Miss India Universe in 1999,Panag won acclaims for her character in Nagesh Kukunoor’s Dor and her work in Manorama,Six Feet Under among other films. Claiming to belong to the lot of thinking actors in the industry,Panag who recently voiced her opinions, taking on the Army Chief on twitter says,“We are expected to keep our comments glamour centric and our outlook on other issues often don’t find a strong platform. Blogging has helped dissolve that gap and in an optimistic way. As an alert citizen I feel the need to speak out in order to mobilise things as well as motivate people and social networking is the best possible way to do so.”
