Dancer-choreographer Prince Gupta of Dance India Dance fame, was in the city recently along with contestants of DID Super Moms Radhika Das,Manjula Roy Choudhury and Shivangi Vajpayee. Popular as the prince of the locking and popping moves,Gupta spoke about his experience choreographing dance routines. When I was a contestant four years ago,my performance was the only source of tension but now,as a mentor, the tension doubles while watching my contestant perform on stage, he says.
He went on to explain how difficult it was to choreograph for mothers, many of who face health problems. However, the participants enthusiasm to perform stunts, including aerial acts, though dancing had taken a backseat for them after they had children, bewildered him. When asked,Gupta mentioned he does not have any intention of joining the film industry as an actor. I want to stick to dancing, choreographing shows and being known as a performer, he says.
