House break-ins
On Prabhat Road
Thieves broke into a flat in Saidham Apartments on Prabhat Road and stole gold ornaments worth Rs. 2.80 lakh. Supriya Manohar Kanade (49),a resident of Kumar Pushp Society in Sadashiv Peth has registered a complaint in this regard. According to Deccan police,Kanades parents who live in Saidham Society are currently in America on a tour. On Monday,between 3 am and 3.45 am,unidentified thieves broke in to the locked flat and stole gold and silver valuables.
In New Sangvi
Thieves broke into a flat at Siddharth Apartment and stole valuables worth over Rs. 1 lakh. Yogesh Namdeo More has registered a complaint with the Sangvi police. was out on Monday afternoon when unidentified thieves broke in to the flat said the police.
In a similar incident,thieves broke open a flat at Mayur Nagri and stole cash and valuables worth Rs. 1,37,925. According to the complaint filed by Munish Feroz Shaikh (35),he had gone out for work when the incident occurred.
In Kothrud
A flat at Vrindavan Society was broke into on early Sunday morning. Nitinkumar Gajanan Alate (44),the owner of the flat has registered a complaint in this regard. Kothrud police said Alate was not at home when thieves broke in to his flat and stole Rs 2,000 and silver and gold ornaments worth Rs 1.59 lakh.
Theft at Dena Bank
An employee of Dena Bank was in for a rude shock when she realised that the Rs. 1 lakh she had kept in a drawer has been stolen. The employee with the Paud Phata branch of the bank Sarika Anand Hamghar (33) has filed a complaint with the Kothrud police. On Monday morning,while going to office,she took Rs. 1 lakh from her relative to deposit it in her bank account. She kept the cash in a drawer and later found it stolen.
Helps son held for theft
Najma Abdul Suleman (49),a resident of Indira Park Society in Yerwada,has registered a complaint with the Yerawada police against the son of her housemaid for stealing valuables worth Rs 2.60 lakh from her residence. According to the police,Mehron Nisa Abdul Rahim Shaikh used to stay and work at Sulemans residence. On September 23 and 24,Shaikhs son Zakir Abdul Rahim Shaikh (40),a resident of Yerwada,came to visit his mother. He stole the cupboard keys and stole Rs 1.10 lakh and gold ornaments worth Rs 1.5 lakh. Suleman later registered a complaint following which the police arrested Shaikh.
Fake notes deposited
Unidentified persons deposited fake currency worth Rs 9,300 at the Bank of Maharashtras Bajirao Road branch in Budhwar Peth. Kuruppmalayam Raghavan Rangaraju (46),manager of the Bank has registered a complaint with the Vishrambaug police. According to police,the bank had sent money from its currency chest to the Reserve Bank of India office at CBD Belapur in Navi Mumbai. The RBI found 12 fake notes of Rs 500 denomination,32 of Rs 100 denomination and 2 of Rs 50 denomination.
