Who was that talking to the media? * SOCIAL crusader Anna Hazare was in the Shivajinagar court last week to attend a hearing of a misappropriation case filed against him. Even as Hazare was leaving the court premises,strangers were seen bowing in front of Hazare,some even touching his feet. Gate number four through which Hazare exited was surrounded by lawyers,mediapersons and passersby to get a glimpse of the man behind the India Against Corruption campaign. In the crowd was a man in his forties,struggling to aim his mobile phone camera at Hazare,who was interacting with the electronic media. After Hazare left,the man was heard asking someone in the crowd,Yeh jo bol rahe the media se,who kaun the? Lawyers consumer society golden jubilee *The Lawyers Consumer Society,Pune,recently celebrated its golden jubilee at Ashoka Hall in Shivajinagar Court. This is the largest and only functioning consumer society in the state. The function went on for about two-and-a-half hours and included more than 35 felicitations. Sarode in Planning Commission committee *Advocate Asim Sarode has been appointed as a member of the working group on labour laws and other labour regulations for the twelfth Five Year Plan (2012-2017) by Government of India Planning Commission (Labour,Employment and Manpower Division),Yojana Bhavan New Delhi from April 7. Sarode is a human rights activist and Ashoka Fellow. This will have only advisory powers and it will work mainly to review labour law and other regulations,to examine the need for special measures that need to be taken for Special Economic Zones (SEZs),Industrial parks,Export Zones and other locations/ activities that foster creation of large new employment opportunities,to identify the Laws which are no longer needed and need to be repealed,those that require changes and revision in the rules,regulations,orders and notifications and so on issued there. Court vacation from May 6 * The Pune district and sessions court vacation begins from May 6 and will go on till June 6. While the civil courts will enjoy full vacation,criminal courts will function on rotation basis during this period.
