Cops arrest suspects who shot businessman dead in a Fortuner SUVA CCTV video of the incident went viral. Meanwhile, a first information report (FIR) was lodged in this case at the Dighi police station under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 103 (1), 3 (5) and sections of the Indian Arms Act.

Pimpri Chinchwad police arrested three men who allegedly shot a 37 year old businessman Nitin Shankar Gilbile dead while he was seated in a Fortuner SUV, near Shri Sai Road Carrier on Alankapuram Road in Charholi, on Wednesday evening.

Police identified the accused as Vikrant Suresh Thakur (38), resident of Malwadi in Khed taluka of Pune district, Sumit Phulchand Patel (31) of Pasaydan Colony, Dighi in Pimpri Chinchwad and Amit Jeevan Pathare (35) of Pathare Mala. Police said one more suspect related to this case has been detained for investigation.

According to the police, the accused and deceased Gilbile were good friends. They were sitting in a Fortuner SUV owned by Amit Pathare. However, police suspect that one of the accused allegedly opened fire at Gilble following some previous land dispute. All the accused then fled the spot.

A CCTV video of the incident went viral. Meanwhile, a first information report (FIR) was lodged in this case at the Dighi police station under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 103 (1), 3 (5) and sections of the Indian Arms Act.

A crime branch team led by inspector Rajendra Patil reached Tamhini Ghat area in Paud after receiving information about the Fortuner vehicle involved in the crime. A police team chased the vehicle and intercepted it on the road from Tamhini to Paud on Friday. Cops also nabbed Thakur and Patil in the car while they were trying to escape.

During further investigation, police arrested accused Amit Pathare from Wagholi. One more suspect was detained for investigation, said police sources. Deputy commissioner of police (crime) Shivaji Pawar said that an investigation was on to confirm the exact motive behind the murder.
