A contractor and his workers have been booked in connection with the death last year of a seven-year-old boy, Arnav Mithilesh Rai, in a gate collapse at Wagholi in Pune.
Contractor Siraj Mulla, Dajij Khan and Ramprakash Rai were booked under Indian Penal Code section 304A (causing death by negligence) after a complaint was lodged Friday by Arnav’s father Mithilesh Rambachhan Rai’s (36) at the Lonikand police station. No arrest has been made in the case.
According to police, Mithilesh was working at a construction site at Gulmohar Society in Wagholi and his son Arnav was playing in the parking area when a gate at the entrance of the building collapsed over him around 4.30 pm on November 18, 2022.
Senior police inspector Gajanan Pawar said the boy died on the same day. “As per the procedure, a case of accidental death was lodged and a probe was initiated. During investigation, it was known that the accused persons had constructed the gate. But its quality was not good, so the gate collapsed, leading to the boy’s death,” he said.
