State government employees at the office of District Collectorate went on an indefinite strike in protest against Congress legislator Vinayak Nimhan, who allegedly abused tehlisdar Sachin Giri.

State government employees at the office of District Collectorate went on an indefinite strike in protest against Congress legislator Vinayak Nimhan, who allegedly abused tehlisdar Sachin Giri.

The staff at the collector office refused to work on Monday, saying that a police complaint should be filed against Nimhan for abusing and threatening a government employee.

They staged a dharna outside the collector office and decided to continue with the strike unless there is some action against Nimhan.

Meanwhile,Nimhan, along with his supporters, too staged protest at the collector office criticising the staff at district collectorate. “The tehsildars are not working in the interest of public and are harassing citizens,” he said.

With the protest from both sides, there was a tension in the area for a while. Later, collector Vikas Deshmukh held discussion with representatives of both the groups. “I have heard both of them and will take steps accordingly. I have also urged the state government officers to call off their strike,” Deshmukh said.
