With the state government agreeing to meet the demands of the collge teachers in the state,the state-wide strike and boycott of paper evaluation has been called off.
Senior teachers and senate members of University of Pune (UoP) have said that the paper correction will be resumed from Saturday and efforts are on to rope in additional teachers to speed up the process.
The strike had begun on March 24. The three major demands clearing 10 months salary arrears between periods April 2009-January 2010 and over 80 per cent arrears between periods January 2006-March 2010 and exemption from NET/SET exams for those appointed between September 1991 and April 2000.
Appealing to the teachers to speed up the process of paper evaluation,AK Walunj,secretary,Pune University Teachers Association (PUTA) said,For the 80 per cent arrears issue,the state government has assured us that the Centre will provide the funds. The state has also agreed to abide by the UGC norms in the case of the NET/SET exemption issue. Hence,we will resume paper evaluation from tomorrow.
Over 15,000 teachers are given examination duty,of which 10 per cent are involved in paper evaluation. We appeal to all the teachers to come forward in more and more numbers so that we can speed up the process of evaluation and results are declared on time.
