Symbiosis Centre of Information Technology recently held their maiden forum on Information Technology Entrepreneurship and Leadership,called Sprout IT wherein the main aim of the event was to bring to the forefront the challenges needed to become an entrepreneur and to make students aware of the entire gamut of entrepreneurship like innovation,funding,and other softer issues ingrained in entrepreneurship. The program was followed by the panel discussion on the topic- Entrepreneurship and Innovation are the two sides of the same coin,which bought forth many key points related to breakthrough innovation,first movers advantage,myths related to notion of innovation and perception of entrepreneurship.
Welingkars distance learning courses
The Welingkar Institute will be launching a series of half yearly and year long diploma courses in courses like Business Management,Industrial Management,Material Management,Human Resource Management and Financial Management. The highlights of the course include a personal contact program wherein people can pursue their courses without having to make a lot of compromises with their work. The students can opt for either an evening batch from monday to friday for two hours in the evening,or sunday batches from morning to evening or have a pre scheduled contact session. The online examination systems that can be taken from various centers across the city provide students the flexibility to choose the date and venue for the examination. Students who have completed their HSC can also participate in these courses,which will act as a foundation stone for future management programmes.
TASMAC appoints new director
The TASMAC group (Training and Advanced Studies in Management & Communication) has recently appointed S Shailesh Niyogi as director- corporate affairs as a part of their restructuring programme. Niyogi has worked in the field of corporate planning,new business development,brand building,HR training,financial services,wealth management,corporate communication & media relation for the last twenty years and has also been the recipient of various awards like the Bank of America Award,and the Chairman Select Award.
Recruitment drive launched
Mphasis,an EDS company had recently conducted a special recruitment drive for people with disabilities. The walk in interviews was conducted for the post of trainee transaction processing officer on March 13. The drive was launched for those people who had been affected by problems like mobility impairment and hemophilia,thalassaemia and dyslexia. Mphasis recruits people with disability,and as of now has 300 employees with disabilities working across its various locations. It has also put up several systems in place to facilitate and enable employees with disabilities to work along with other colleagues.
Rustic flavour
The Flame Institute of Management will be organising the first ever rural marketing fair Udhyacha Grameen Grahak from March 19 to 21. The fair will be held in Jalgaon at Jain Hills and is a part of the field based course of the students. The students of the institute have worked hand in glove with local agricultural authorities and have identified 100 villages all over the state from where the 10 most prosperous and progressive families will be invited to participate in the fair. The main aim of the fair is to ensure that the farmers can exhibit their products and even sell them to the rural consumer. Various companies will also be showcasing their products to these consumers wherein they will be made aware of the various companies,brands,communication strategy and acceptable price ranges.
