With gig alerts, updates,a photo gallery and technical directory,www.indiagigalert.com aims to link all things musical
‘Indiagigalert: Bangalore,do not miss Cypher16 at The Kyra Theatre tonight! Like they keep saying,it’s going to be a ‘wicked’ gig!’ That’s the latest Twitter update linked to the India Gig Alert website. Browse through the other sections and a whole world of music opens its doors for you. There’s a DIY Resources, where a directory of sound engineers, venues, jam rooms, music tutors, production managers and so on pops up. The CD Bazaar takes you through music merchandise,’News Updates’ informs of upcoming gigs in your city, and the Gig Capture section brightens the screen with performance images.
Bandukwala has personally been asking friends in the Indie scene, taking feedback and making necessary changes to the site functions. Even though it is in its nascent stage, the response has been encouraging. Designed by THCNOW,which is headquartered in Vashi, the site is very interactive, with Facebook,Twitter updates, constant news updates from sites like NH7,Sonic Buzz,Headbangers India,Metal India Magazine and so on,and a gallery of interesting gig photographs. “It was quite simple conceptualising and realising the idea. It was about making a note of problems faced by musicians, fans and organisers and thinking of creative solutions for the same,” Bandukwala says. “There are a lot of supporters who inform us about gigs in their towns. We also get emails from bands asking us to promote their gigs, which we gladly do,” he adds. On the site, one can log in using his/her FB Id,go to the gig calendar and update details. “It automatically gets posted to the IGA FB page,” adds Bandukwala.
Terming this project as one dedicated to fans of music,he says,”It’s about countering the fragmentation that existed in the scene and bringing everything under one roof.”
