Civic body opens call centre for complaints

People have always been submitting complaints about infrastructure problems in the city.

People have always been submitting complaints about infrastructure problems in the city, but now they have got one more platform to lodge complaints against civic problems. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Saturday launched its call centre centre and people can call on 020-66344203 to register their complaints.

The complaint registration system has been named as Grievance Redressal Information Programme (GRIP) and the civic administration has outsourced the work of managing the call centre to Zensar Technolgies.

After launching the system,Municipal Commissioner Mahesh Zagade said,“This is for the first time that without getting any civic machinery involved in this work, people will get a platform to lodge their complaints. We have roped in a private company for the call centre. Once somebody lodges a complaint, the call centre will give that person a complaint number and then the junior engineers concerned will be sent SMS alerts about the complaint that they will have to resolve. In case, the complaint remains unresolved for some time, the senior officials will be given alerts about it who will initiate action.”

All civic departments, including health, garden, drainage, roads, building permission, water supply and city’s 14 ward offices are covered under the system. “Since the system is in its initial phase,we will see how it works and once the initial problems are cleared,we can launch the service on a larger scale,” he said.
