Jagtap replaces Nikam as leader of House

The NCP on Thursday appointed Subhash Jagtap as the leader of House in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) by replacing Nilesh Nikam. Jagtap will hold the post for less than a year as the civic body will go for general elections by Februrary 2012. Nikam held the position for a year after Anil Bhosale resigned in protest against being ignored by the party for ticket for the legislative council seat.

Campaign urges state to retain Zagade

Activists have conducted a signature campaign urging the state government to cancel the training of municipal commissioner Mahesh Zagade and appoint two additional municipal commissioners in the PMC. Political parties have already passed a similar resolution to be sent to Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan urging to call Zagade for civic responsibilities.
