City sees another swine flu death

A 33-year-old woman from Pathardi taluka in Ahmednagar district died of swine flu (H1N1 virus) Wednesday at KEM Hospital.

A 33-year-old woman from Pathardi taluka in Ahmednagar district died of swine flu (H1N1 virus) Wednesday at KEM Hospital. She was suffering from fever,cough and breathlessness since April 8 and did not take medication for the initial five days.

Dr Pramod Jagtap from Ahmednagar referred her to Pune for higher management of viral infection. On April 15,she suffered from renal failure and was put on dialysis. She died of septicemia and multi-organ failure due to pneumonia caused by swine flu,PMC health officials said.

According to officials,this is the 16th death registered by corporation. Patients even if they come from outside Pune and seek treatment are registered on the civic body’s surveillance system. So far 163 persons were diagnosed with swine flu.
