PUNE: Three unidentified men posing as policemen allegedly duped a woman of her gold chain worth Rs 75,000 on Thursday. The woman,Sunanda Suryawanshi,a resident of Shahu Nagar in Chinchwad,lodged a complaint at MIDC Bhosari police station. Police said the suspects intercepted Sunanda at the entrance of Prabhat Housing Society,where she resides. They told her they are policemen and are investigating a case. They asked her to remove her gold chain and put it in a bag. However,the trio tricked her and fled with the chain. Assistant Police Inspector M B Suryawanshi is investigating the case.
14- year-old boy killed in road mishap
PUNE: A speeding motorcycle ran over a 14-year-old boy when he was crossing the road near IDBI bank in Baner on Wednesday. Police have identified the victim as Shubham alias Sonu Prajapati,a resident of Balasaheb Murkute chawl in Banergaon. His father Sureshkumar Prajapati (36) lodged a complaint at Chatushringi police station. Police have launched a search for the motorcycle rider. Police said Sureshkumar runs a small paan shop in Banergaon. Shubham visited the shop around 8.30 pm. While crossing the road near IDBI bank,a speeding motorcycle knocked him down and he died on the spot.
Air Force Association to celebrate 33rd anniv
PUNE: The state branch of the Air Force Association will celebrate its 33rd anniversary on September 15. A function will be organised at Mig triangle at 9 am. Wreath will be laid in remembrance of the deceased air veterans. A release issued by the association said the annual general meeting will be held after the ceremony.
