Solunkhe takes charge as SP,Pune (Rural)
Shahaji Solunkhe took over as the Pune (Rural) SP from Sandeep Karnik late on Thursday evening. Solunkhe,who was SP (Aurangabad Rural) had earlier said the grievance redress cell established by Karnik would continue to function and a police officer would be named soon to monitor the cell. Karnik the security in charge during Maval agitation in which three farmers were killed in a police firing has been transferred to Mumbai after he wrote to DGP Ajit Parasnis seeking a transfer. Sources said he had sought the transfer on the grounds that he did not want people to misconstrue his continuance in the post as a hindrance to a fair probe.
