In a major crackdown, Delhi Police’s Anti-Narcotics Cell arrested two drug peddlers and seized 304 grams of high-grade heroin valued at approximately Rs 1.50 crore in the international market, officers said on Tuesday.

The accused, identified as Taslim (23) and Salman Ansari (29), both residents of Northeast Delhi’s New Seemapuri, were apprehended on December 21 in front of Samartivan Park Road, Narela, DCP Hareshwar Swami stated.

According to police, a specialised raiding party was constituted under the leadership of Inspector Gaurav Choudhary following credible tip-off about drug trafficking activities. The operation was conducted under the supervision of ACP Dinesh Kumar and DCP Swami.

The seized contraband was classified as a “commercial quantity” under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

An FIR was registered at Narela police station under sections 21, 25 and 29 of the NDPS Act, and both accused were arrested, officers said.

Probe revealed that Taslim, a driver by profession, has been involved in narcotics supply for a significant period, while Salman Ansari, a tailor by profession, is a repeat offender with previous involvement recorded under the NDPS Act, officers added.
