PCMC cuts octroi on diesel,petrol
The PCMC standing committee on Tuesday approved a proposal to reduce octroi charges on petrol and diesel by one per cent in a bid to reduce fuel prices. Panel member Babu Nair said the step would bring down the civic bodys octroi collection by Rs 22 crore. The civic body had,last week,reduced octroi on LPG cylinders by Rs 9.
Delegation to meet PM,Defence Minister
A delegation of corporators,MLAs and office-bearers of the PCMC,led by Mayor Yogesh Behl,will meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Defence Minister A K Antony in Delhi in connection with the Bhosaris Red Zone issue and other road issues. The PCMC has received a notice from the Army seeking eviction of those dwellings coming in the vicinity of Dighi Magazine Depot.
