Chavan will look into toll collection irregularities: Anna

Social activist Anna Hazare on Tuesday said he has been assured by chief minister Prithviraj Chavan on resolving all the issues related to toll collection on the highways by introducing fresh rules and regulations for its implementation.

Social activist Anna Hazare on Tuesday said he has been assured by chief minister Prithviraj Chavan on resolving all the issues related to toll collection on the highways by introducing fresh rules and regulations for its implementation.

Hazare had written to the state government on irregularities in the toll collection and officers of the state government had a meeting with him on the issue.

The chief minister has assured me to personally look into the matter and resolve the issue, he said.

The state government officers have agreed to computerising the entire system of toll collection and making the process transparent,the Hazre said,adding,he has urged the state government to frame a policy on distance of toll booth.

The state government should also withdraw toll collection once the cost of the road construction is recovered, Hazare said.
