The post of the V-C has been vacant since June 15 after Narendra Jadhav resigned from the post
The three-member Vice-chancellor Search Committee set up for appointing the V-C of the University of Pune will interview the candidates on January 9. It is not yet clear whether all applicants would be invited. The committee has received 125 applications.
The committee had reportedly shortlisted some candidates.
When contacted Sanjeev Kashalkar,convenor of the committee didnt disclose the number of candidates.
It will be a primary interaction with the candidates. As the list of candidates is long,interviews may continue on January 10 or any other convenient date, he said.
The state government had appointed a three-member V-C search committee under the chairmanship of former Supreme Court judge Justice B N Srikrishna. Director of IIT-Kanpur Sanjay Dhande and principal secretary of higher education department J S Saharia are the other two members of the committee.
The post has been vacant since June 15 after the then V-C Narendra Jadhav resigned from the post to join as a member of Central Planning Commission in Delhi. Arun Adsool is the acting V-C of the varsity since then.
