CA Mohit Agarwal drowning: Management, lifeguard of Pune hotel booked
A First Information Report in this regard was registered on Monday at Shivajinagar police station based on a complaint filed by one of Agarwal's family members.

OVER six months after a 35-year-old Chartered Accountant (CA) and Director of a Kolkata-based chartered accounting class, Mohit Agarwal, drowned in the swimming pool of a top luxury hotel in Shivajinagar area of Pune, the police have booked the hotel management and a lifeguard at the pool for alleged negligence.
A First Information Report in this regard was registered on Monday at Shivajinagar police station based on a complaint filed by one of Agarwal’s family members.
Agarwal was founder of a Kolkata-based institute that imparted training to students preparing for CA and company secretary examinations. The incident had taken place on the morning of April 2 around 9 am.
“A while after Agarwal had entered the water of the swimming pool, he drowned. A case of accidental death pending probe into the case was registered at the time. During the investigation of the case, his family members alleged negligence on the part of the hotel authorities. Our probe, which is based on the security camera footage among other things, suggests that the life guard posted at the pool was not present when the incident happened. A while later he returned and took Agarwal without even entering the water. When he was taken to a hospital, Agarwal was pronounced dead. Based on the investigation we have booked the hotel management and the life guard on charges of negligence.” said an officer from Shivajinagar police station.
When contacted, Assistant Inspector Bajirao Naik, from Shivajinagar police station, who is the investigating officer, said a probe has been launched and no arrests have been made in the case yet.
