The Pune rural police on Wednesday arrested a 27-year-old businessman,who owns a small-scale industrial unit in Ranjangaon,and seized three country-made pistols and 17 live cartridges from his possession.

The police said they received information that Atul Suresh Pingale,a resident of Ranjangaon MIDC,had brought country-made pistols and cartridges to the market to sell.

Senior inspector Shivaji Devkar of the local crime branch said,We suspect that the pistols were brought here for sale. He was been sent in police custody till Friday. We are investigating if he sold arms to anyone earlier,and whether he has any accomplices and receivers.
