An affectionate father talks about his sons swimming blues,how playful he is with sand and how even as a five-year-old he prefers nutritious meals. A couple of thousand words describe Sandip Soparrkar,a single father and an adoptive parents relationship with his son. Two hundred black and white pages have adopted the cause. And the memoirs of those living the cause — the cause of rehabilitating children through adoption are spread over the black and white ink in words and photographs. A Family for Every Child,a book released by the Catalysts for Social Action (CSA),a social welfare organisation,brings togther families who have adopted the cause. And some of the known faces to join the roster of parents who have adopted kids Sandip Soparrkar,Sushmita Sen,Raveena Tandon too contribute their share of memories with their adopted kids to the book,which has been edited by Shibani Jain.
Recently,the book was released in the city in the presence of actor Amruta Subhash and chreographer Sandip Soparrker at Crossword on Saturday. This book offers answers to many interested,but unsure couples or aspiring parents who want to adopt a child and are not sure about the process,implications and issues involved in the legal system,” says managing trustee CSA Bharati Dasgupta.
The book consists of 29 articles and spans across four sections. Where the first section is about the joy of adoption and features first hand accounts and interviews from seven adoptive parents includindg Sushmita Sen,Sandip Soparrker and Raveena Tandon the second section covers the current adoption scenario in India. The account of adoptive parents demystifies many of the puzzling issues around adoption. People tend to rely and relate more to these accounts than any other facts and figures, says Madhuri Abhyankar,director SOFOSH.
