An unidentified caller,with the probable intention of breaking up a marriage party which was on at Hotel Le Meridien,caused some tense moments on Friday night.
Around 8 pm on Friday the caller contacted the police control room and said that a bomb had been placed inside Hotel Le Meridien. A police team,along with a bomb squad,rushed to the scene and carried out a thorough search. But nothing was found.
Sangramsinh Nishandar,assistant commissioner,crime branch,said that the call was traced to Kadki and that the callers intention was to trouble the marriage party which was going on at the hotel.
Explaining the suspicion,he said,Both the bride and the groom were from Kadki and we traced the call to a public telephone booth in Kadki. We questioned the owner but the person who made the call is still at large.
The entire search for the bomb lasted more than two hours with sniffer dogs and the police team searching every nook and cranny of the hotel. For more than an hour the gates of the hotel were closed and people were not allowed to enter. The hotel authorities allowed entry of people only around 10:30 pm when the search operation proved that it was a hoax cal. Confirming the incident,hotel general manager,Jaswinder Narang said,Nothing was found since it was obviously a hoax,but of course it was important to do a thorough check.
