The Vidya Valley School’s boys’ and girls’ teams secured huge victories over their respective opponents without conceding even a single point on the opening day of MLA Shri Vinayakji Nimhan Basketball Trophy,organised by Sanjay Sports Academy at their premises in Baner.

In the boys’ section,the Pashan-based school thrashed the Indira National School 57-0. Amey Katariya and Chinmay Patwardhan top-scored for Vidya Valley with 10 points apiece. The Vidya Valley girls’ team also triumphed over the Indira School in their inaugural match,relying on a rock-solid defense to beat them 18-0. Avani Awadthee propelled her team towards an easy victory with 6 points.

In the other matches,the Vidyanchal School boys’ team beat the DAV Public School 41-4 with Kshitij Vedue’s 10 points and Mukesh Chowdhary’s 8 points,while in the girls’ draw the DAV School overcame Moze Vidyalaya 10-4,riding on a 5-point effort from Madhura Aphale.
