The cast and crew of soon to release film Always Kabhi Kabhi were on a promotional whirl on Thursday and Friday. Roshan Abbas,Giselli Monteiro,Zoa Morani,Satyajeet Dubey and Ali Fazal kept Puneites on their toes with interactions, radio shows, press meets and appearances at malls and eateries. This story is about your high school years, the best years of your life, said Abbas. The film revolves around four teenagers and their high school experiences. A story about love, friendship, inner conflicts, aspirations and basically everything that one goes through in one’s teenage years, he added.
The film is Abbas’ directorial debut. Produced by Red Chillies Entertainment,it is a cinematic adaptation of the play Graffiti, which he wrote and directed in 1999. Abbas added,I always felt that it should be made into a film. In 2008,after nine years of working in television and radio,Abbas felt that it was time he chased his passion for film-making. When I spoke to Shah Rukh Khan about making a film based on Graffiti,he remembered the play and showed a keen interest in the project, he revealed. Two years later,in 2010,the production process began.
Giselli Monteiro, who played the soft-spoken Harleen Kaur in Love Aaj Kal,looked beautiful. In this film too,I play Aishwarya,a shy, sweet girl who battles against her mother’s wishes of her becoming a model, she said. Newcomer,Zoa Morani, plays Nandini, the rebellious rule-breaker. I can relate really well with this character since I was quite rebellious as a teenager, she quipped, adding Although I wasn’t as wild as Nandini is in the film! Satyajeet Dubey too makes a debut with this film as Tariq, the geek with a heart of gold. Ali Fazal, who lost a whopping 14 kilos for his role, completes the main cast,as Sameer, the high school playboy.
Everyone can relate to this story, Abbas said. Everyone has memories of high school. Also, the characters are such that you can relate to at least one of them in some way or the other.
