A picture of Lord Vishnu symbolising his 10 avatars and others that display each one individually. These form the collection of paintings made by Mumbai-based artist Bharat Tripathi. Titled Dashavatar, the paintings have now found a unique place in the virtual world in the form of an iPhone and iPad application developed by Pune-based firm Xtentia. The application allows any user to download the application for free, says Tripathi, who is also a bureaucrat. Once downloaded, the person can view all my paintings and information about them. There are links that direct them to my website too, he says. Tripathi’s exhibition, which features 36 paintings, was held at the Jehangir Art Gallery in November last year. Currently Tripathi is working on his next solo collection called ‘The Story of Shiva.’ The paintings will be released by December this year. We will create an application for that too on the lines of the Dashavatar one. The whole idea is to get better visibility for artists like me, he says.
