Former Congress MLA,Sambhaji Ramchandra Kunjir,63,who was arrested for allegedly opening fire at a watchman in Theur following a land dispute last Tuesday,was on Sunday sent to custody till June 28.
Kunjir and his men had gone to retired Commander Deepak Naiks stockyard in Theur,where they had a quarrel with the watchman and workers. The injured watchman,Balu Sunil Hiwale,24,was hospitalised after the incident. A complaint of attempt to murder was lodged against Kunjir. Kunjir had lodged a cross complaint against the watchman attacked him and hence he had to open fire in self defence.
