Angels Loni and Bishops cruised into the final of the inter-school under-12 cricket tournament organised by the Poona Schools Athletic Association at the VM Gany Sports Complex on Saturday.
Angels defeated Parnajape Vidya Mandir by 21 runs in the first semifinal. Angels won the toss and chose to bat. They scored a total of 93 runs in 16 overs at the cost of four wickets in the first innings.
Nikhil Karbhari emerged the top scorer in their team with 22 runs,while Manthan Baravkar gave him good support with an unbeaten knock of 14 runs.
For Paranjape,Yash Kshirsagar picked up two wickets for 14 runs in his spell of 4 overs.
In reply,Paranjape managed to score just 72 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 16 overs. Yash Kshirsagar completed a good all-round performance with 18 runs. But it wasnt enough as he could not help his team reach the target.
For Angels,Shubham Harpale and Suyog Pawar did most of the damage picking up a couple of crucial wickets.
In the second semifinal,Bishops defeated Vikhe Patil by 8 wickets. Vikhe Patil batted first and scored 93 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in sixteen overs. Atharva Amdekar topped the score board with an unbeaten 28 runs. For Bishops,Adarsh Chaube bowled well and picked up two wickets for 15 runs in three overs. However,Bishops reached their target with eight wickets and ten balls to spare. Nirlep Rajore was the top scorer with an unbeaten knock of 32 runs.
