The musical Ramayana on Wheels, being performed on December 5,is an example of the extraordinary capabilities of differently-abled children
The twinkle in their eyes reflects the joy of victory and the pride in being able to showcase their talent. For these 200 children, life has not exactly been a bed of roses, but their will power has helped them win over their disability and change it into their strength. Performing live for the first time, these differently abled children are going to create a name for themselves by presenting a musical dance production, titled Ramayana On Wheels.
The play will see participation of students from 16 institutes across the city, the youngest character being four years old and the oldest 25. I strongly believe that ours is not a differently abled friendly country and more initiatives for their betterment need to be taken, adds Pasha, who has created 100 dance theatre productions and has had 10,000 performances by multiple challenged people across the globe. His name has also been featured in the Limca Book of World Records for the same. Pasha, who is the Founder and Artistic Director of Ability Unlimited, also feels that this play will usher hope, confidence, dignity and zest in the differently abled children.
The theme of Ramayana is rather unique. Minitta Patil, manager,Bal Kalyan Sanstha, shares,Ramayana has so many emotions that it almost feels like an emotional revival for most. Also,it has been a celebrated epic of India and it only makes sense to have it featured in such a noble cause.
Talking about the challenges that a project like this entailed,Pasha says,It has been challenging but the amount of efforts that the students have put in is commendable. Their performances will be extraordinary.
