The American Center is organising The American Centre Road Show’ from July 7-10 in the city to showcase a slice of American Life to Punekars. It will have lectures,film screenings,exhibition of books and seminars on opportunities of higher education in the US.
Christine Dal Bello,US Consulate Information Officer talked about the road show in a press conference arranged on Wednesday. The main hub of the Road Show will be Marathwada Mitramandal’s College of Commerce (MMCC) where the Marathi translation of three books,’Unaccustomed Earth’ by Jhumpa Lahiri and ‘Eat,Play,Love’ and ‘Committed’ by Elizabeth Gilbert will be released. Marathi translations are done by Yamaji Malkar, said Dal Bello.
” The American Library exhibit will be on display at MMCC from July 7 from 9 am to 5 pm where people can see around 1000 American Library books,periodicals,poster exhibits,videos,DVDs,electronic databases and other published materials, she said.
There will be book-reading sessions in which two famous books ‘Dreams From My Father’ and ‘Death of a Salesman’ will be read by Sumedha Raikar and Ketan Vaidya.
“In educational seminars,students can get information about higher education opportunities in the US and the visa process. This is the first road show in Pune and it is open to all fee of cost, said Dal Bello.
She said the citizens would also have opportunities to hear US speakers and experts on an eclectic range of subjects like good governance,volunteerism,eco-friendly practices,Internet freedom and agriculture.
