Aircel-PGTI Players Championship to start today

The Aircel-Professional Golf Tour of India on Monday announced that the Aircel-PGTI Players Championship will be played at the Oxford Golf & Country Club near Pune from June 29 – July 2.

The Aircel-Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) on Monday announced that the Aircel-PGTI Players Championship will be played at the Oxford Golf & Country Club near Pune from June 29 – July 2. The tournament carries a total prize purse of Rs 40 lakh. The Pro-Am event will be played on July 3.

The tournament will feature most of the big names of Indian professional golf such as Gaganjeet Bhullar,C Muniyappa,Anirban Lahiri,Mukesh Kumar,Himmat Singh Rai,Rahil Gangjee,Shamim Khan, Vijay Kumar,Sujjan Singh,Vishal Singh,Gaurav Pratap Singh,Harendra Gupta and Pune’s Gurki Shergill,to name a few. Mohd. Siddikur Rahman of Bangladesh will also be one of the top contenders at the event. “We look forward to hosting our first ever professional tournament in partnership with the Aircel PGTI. This tournament will help us in promoting the Oxford Golf & Country Club as one of the premier championship venues in the country”,said Vincent Pinto,COO,Oxford Golf & Country Club.

The picturesque Oxford Golf Course,designed by Phil Ryan,is built on 136 acres of horse-shoe shaped land surrounded by the Sahyadri Hills on three sides. There is a height difference of 88 metres within the golf course. The large greens and sparkling white sand bunkers also give the course a distinct identity. The overall landscaping is designed to blend seamlessly with the surrounding hills.
