Aadhar linkage for LPG: Pune district set to start subsidy transfer from October 1

“It’s an ongoing process where our own agencies are conducting drives to cover all the beneficiaries,’’ he said.

The drive to register LPG customers for Aadhar cards is being carried out on a warfooting to ensure that the entire process is in place in six months,said state government officials who recently held a meeting with collectors and commissioners of the shortlisted districts.

The thrust of the drive is to have maximum enrollment,link Aadhar with LPG and bank accounts so that the transfer of subsidy can happen smoothly,they added.

The meeting also discussed the Wardha module that could be replicated in all districts to be covered in the first phase.

Official from the state IT department said the LPG dealers can themselves conduct drives after their agencies meet the stipulated criteria. “As in Wardha,dealers can themselves conduct drives or encourage individuals to register for Aadhar cards,’’ said the official.

In Wardha,collector’s office took measures to reach out to beneficiaries and ensured maximum people enrolled for the card. After registration,beneficiaries can also avail the e-aadhar letter that can help them check online details once the card number is generated.

“A consumer receives an SMS once the number is generated which they can check by visiting the website eaadhar.uidai.gov.in. This facility is to bridge the time gap between Aadhar card enrollment and receiving of the registration number,’’ said an official from state government’s Aadhar office.

Presently,the Aadhar number is delivered by post which can take time.

The state has 7.2 crore people enrolled for Aadhar,of which 6.6 have been issued cards. Wardha leads with 96 per cent coverage followed by Mumbai at 84 per cent,Amravati at 82 per cent,Dhule at 80 per cent and Nagpur at 79 per cent. Presently,the state has 30 agencies and as many as 4,000 machines,the highest in the country. The state is all set to get 2,000 more machines with the support from common service centres. According to the IT department,the state has the highest enrollment of nearly 1.5-1.75 lakh every day,which will go up by October. The department has set a target to cover 9 crore population under Aadhar by December and 10 crore by March next year.
