A bit of blue from Mumbai

Most of Pune’s best eateries are concentrated in and around the city centre — in Deccan,Camp and Koregaon Park. However, the trend seems to be shifting, with Mumbai’s popular cafe and restaurant Out Of The Blue having opened a branch in Ganeshkhind at E-Square.

The warm, casual setting and live entertainment format that have won Out Of The Blue loyal patrons in Mumbai has been replicated for Pune. A mix of soothing blue, yellow, pink and whites in its decor lend the restaurant vibrant look. The guests can pick between regular tables in the courtyard or the low-lying sofas in the Japanese section. A massive glass window along the Japanese section allows a nice view of the street, especially on rainy days.

The daily live acts time table is dominated with city musicians but also amply peppered with stand-up comics. The restaurant’s website updates its event listings every week. Wednesdays and Friday have special attractions for guests even as they enjoy their meal or drinks, with additional activities like tarot-card readings, astrologers and spa lunches. There’s also an art corner which displays work by local artists; the walls along the restaurant also display some beautiful artwork.

The menu brings to Pune the popular dishes from the Mumbai outlets. There are a variety of starters to begin with,of which the bruschettas and the Fondue Indiana have already found patrons. While main course options include risottos, gratin, sizzlers and pastas,Out Of The Blue’s signature dish Penne Masala Mafia and Chicken in Lemon Sauce in barbecue section stand out.

To accompany the meal, the bar offers beer from around the world, with Indian,German and British brands, amongst others. The restaurant also has a special wine tasting corner, where guests can sample different wines before they take their pick for the evening.

One can choose to end the Out Of The Blue experience by sampling the dessert menu or opt to take something home from their in-house patisserie.
