9-year-old raped in Bibvewadi

Unidentified persons allegedly lured a nine-year-old girl and raped her at an under-construction building in Bibvewadi on Monday evening.

Unidentified persons allegedly lured a nine-year-old girl and raped her at an under-construction building in Bibvewadi on Monday evening. The girls mother lodged a police complaint at Sahkarnagar police station.

Police said the girl had gone to buy some grocery when a person on a motorcycle approached her. The man allegedly asked the girl to accompany him saying he was new to the city and that his sister and daughter were waiting for him near a local sweet mart.

The man took the girl on his motorcycle to Kapil Upwan building on Lake Town Road in Bibvewadi,said police. He forced the girl to the second floor of the under-construction building where he allegedly raped her at knife-point around 7.50 pm.

When the girl did not return home,her parents started searching for her. Police said the man later dropped the girl near her home and fled. The girl narrated the incident to her parents who then lodged a police complaint.

Police have launched a search to nab the suspect on the basis of the description given by the victim. The man was speaking Marathi,police said.

Police said the girls father is a local businessman. She is a student of a local English medium school. Assistant police inspector S S Khot is investigating the case.
