As many as 40 institutions are under the scanner for not putting to use government land allotted to them and of them,a list of 12 has been forwarded to the government for a decision.
We have scrutinised these cases independently and of the 40,we have sent applications of 12 to the government. It is upto the government to take a decision, said district collector Vikas Deshmukh on Friday.
To resolve the major issue of government institutions not having government land, the district collectorate is readying a land bank and all institutions not making use of government land allotted to them beyond the stipulated time frame may have to surrender it or be given some more time depending on reasons cited for not putting the land to use.
If there is a gross violation in terms against use of such land for commercial purposes, appropriate action will be taken. He said that a fine will be collected as per government rules.
The land bank is being readied by the collectorate so that government institutions seeking land for expansion will be given priority. He said that a detailed survey was being carried out for assessment of such lands.
