As many as 20 workers were injured in an explosion in the furnace of Accord Autocomp Private Limited Company in Hinjewadi on Tuesday evening.
An FIR in the matter was registered at the Hinjewadi police station based on the complaint by one of the injured workers Sagar Solase (35). A press release issued Wednesday by the Pimpri Chinchwad police stated that the owner of the company as well as officials looking after the administration and maintenance have been booked in this case under sections 285, 287, 336, 337, 338, 34 of the Indian Penal Code.
Police said an explosion was reported around 8.55 pm in the furnace of the company while the complainant and other workers were performing the work of powder coating of automobile parts.
Inflammable material fell over the workers, leaving them injured.
According to the FIR, the regular repairs and maintenance at the company was neglected by its authorities.
Police inspector Sonyabapu Deshmukh said all injured workers are stable.
“Further investigation is on. No arrest has been made yet,” he said.
