Tanai Nadkarni, founder, the Green PC Project, said, “In an era where discussions often center on advanced technologies like machine learning and AI, it’s crucial to remember that many children from rural schools still lag behind urban school children in basic computer skills. Many schools face challenges with expensive desktops or laptop computers as well as fluctuations in the , leaving several students without fundamental digital literacy.

Computer skills are vital in today’s job market, where digital literacy is a fundamental requirement. When the Green PC Project was first launched at an ashram school in Wadki, it became evident that rural school children lacked even basic skills of how to use a mouse or keyboard, highlighting the urgent need for hands-on experience with computers”.
