(ANI)Congress general secretary and Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday cautioned the people of Bihar against “vote theft”, saying “once vote is lost, they would lose their identity and rights too”.

Travelling in an open jeep with Gandhi, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and CPI (ML-Liberation) leader Dipankar Bhattacharya, Priyanka said: “Do you recall what Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said during the 2024 Lok Sabha poll campaign? He had cautioned people Congress could steal their bhains (buffaloes). Forget buffaloes, these people (BJP) were stealing your votes.”
“…Vote is the base of Indian democracy. Right to vote is your biggest right. Will you allow it to be stolen? Employment is being stolen… There has been theft at every level, it (voting) is the last thing to be stolen… Ye aapki pehchan hai… Agar ye chori karne denge to aapki pehchaan hi nahi rahegi. (Voting right is your identity… If you allow this to be stolen, you will lose your identity)”, said the Wayanand MP.
In a post on X on Tuesday, she wrote, “In Bihar, the BJP-JD(U) government, which has failed on every front, including inflation, unemployment, migration, and economic crisis, wants to remain in power by stealing the votes of the people. The BJP has lost the trust of the people, and that is the reason it’s ‘hatching’ conspiracies to steal votes across the country.”
Attacking the BJP leadership, Rahul said: “(Union Minister) Amit Shah once said BJP would rule for 50 years. I was surprised, but then it dawned on me they knew they could steal votes and rule for 50 years… They want to steal your vote, ration and land but we will not allow this to happen.” Gandhi reiterated his allegations of “vote theft” in Maharashtra, Haryana and MP polls.
“We stick to our demands of breaking the ceiling of 50% reservation and want nationwide caste census be conducted so that EBC, Dalits, backwards, minorities and the poor among general category get their rights,” said Rahul on 10th day of the Vote Adhikar Yatra that concludes on September 1 in Patna after having covered 22 districts.
