The Mumbai Police Crime Branch on Wednesday arrested two youthsVikramjeet Yadav alias Sonu and Sunny Kuttapam for allegedly stabbing their friend to death.
According to police,the victim,Rajesh Bhagwan Kadam alias Pappu (25),had gone with them to Kankavli in Sindhudurg district in September to campaign for Shiv Sena for the Assembly elections.
After a heated argument,the duo murdered and dumped Pappus body in a river,said police.
The arrested were handed over to the Bhandup police by Unit 9 of the Crime Branch for further investigations. The police are now on the lookout for two other youths Sachin and Vinod who were also allegedly involved in the murder.
The victim is a Bhandup resident. Prior to the elections,he had gone with some of his friends to Kasarde village in Kankavli to campaign for the Shiv Sena. As he did not return home,his parents lodged a missing persons complaint with the Bhandup police, said Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rakesh Maria.
We received information that Kadam had been murdered by his friends. Acting on the tip-off,we arrested Sonu and Kuttapam. They have admitted to murdering him,said Rakesh Maria.
According to them,on September 29 or 30,they got into an altercation with Kadam. Under the influence of alochol,Sonu and Kuttapam stabbed in his chest with a knife and covered his body in a blanket and dumped it in a river. We are yet to recover Kadams body, said Maria.
