NCP MPs Supriya Sule and Sameer Bhujbal have worked out a five-year plan for youth welfare.

NCP MPs Supriya Sule and Sameer Bhujbal have worked out a five-year plan for youth welfare. According to “Vision 2009-14”,a presentation made for NCP chief Sharad Pawar at PWD Minister Chhagan Bhujbal’s official residence on Wednesday, around five lakh youths would be trained in vocational skills through the district-level ‘empowerment centres’.

Each centre will train at least 2,000 youths. The party would also help them get jobs.

Sameer, who made the presentation, said special attention should be paid to welfare of youths as they comprise half the population and the rapid urbanisation had resulted in youths migrating to cities.

The NCP has also decided to include a ‘youth policy’ in its manifesto. It envisages one-third seats in local self-governing bodies for youths, regulatory mechanism for private coaching classes, incentives for delaying marriage age, making 20 per cent of time of students mandatory for outdoor activities.
