Youth held for illegal possession

“At 11:30 am on Monday,unit 2 of the crime branch received an information that somebody would be coming to Selection stationery shop at Jeevraj Mehta Chowk for selling weapons. Accordingly,we laid a trap at the spot and arrested Bharadwaj,” said Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rakesh Maria.

The police seized two 0.35 bore factory-made revolvers and a 0.35 bore factory-made pistol from Bharadwaj. Thirty five rounds of 0.32 bore,45 rounds of 9mm bore,23 rounds of 7.62 bore and 47 rounds of assorted bores have also been seized from him. He has been booked under the Arms Act for illegal possession of firearms.

“He was planning to sell the weapons to a few gangs of robbers in the city for Rs1.8 lakh. We will interrogate him to ascertain how many times he had come to the city to sell weapons before this and where does he get these weapons from,” said Maria.
