Dhvanil Kamlesh Shroff,20,fell to his death from the nineteenth floor of his friends apartment in Peddar Roads Woodland Society early on Sunday. While police have registered an accidental death case,suicide has not yet been ruled out.
The victim,a resident of Warden Road,was a student of Bachelor in Management Studies at Jai Hind College in south Mumbai. Sources revealed that Dhvanil may have been under the influence of alcohol,medical tests results are awaited for confirmation. Police said,they have found empty liquor bottles in the house,suggesting that the group was consuming alcohol.
Gamdevi police officers said,Dhvanil,son of a stockbroker,was attending an all-night party at his friends residence and they had planned to watch the ongoing Euro 2012 matches.
There were seven boys and four girls at the party apart from Dhvanil. While the group was playing cards around 4:15 am,Dhvanil got up and went to the kitchen. He did not come out for a long time. His friends realised that he was not with them when his turn to show his cards came, police inspector Sudhir Beknalkar said,adding,the kitchen window does not have grills and he fell down from there.
He was rushed to Breach Candy Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. The body has been taken to J J Hospital for post-mortem,Beknalkar said.
Police-sub-inspector,Harishchandra Ghadge,said,We are recording the statements of his friends. There is a posibility of suicide. Investigations are on.
Police said,From what we have learnt,a girl in the group was close to the victim. But they had ended their relation mutually. There is a possibility that the victim may have got upset after seeing the girl and may have acted in the spur of the moment.
