Western Railway, Central Railway to operate major line blocks on November 16

Central Railway will simultaneously operate a four-hour Mega Block affecting the Main, Harbour and Trans-Harbour lines.

Mumbai’s suburban network will see significant operational changes on Sunday, November 16, as Western Railway (WR) and Central Railway (CR) undertake major maintenance blocks affecting fast, slow, Harbour and Trans-Harbour services.

Western Railway officials said a five-hour Jumbo Block has been scheduled between Borivali and Ram Mandir on the Up Fast line, and between Ram Mandir and Goregaon on the Down Fast line, from 10 am to 3 pm.

During this period, all Up Fast services will be diverted to the Up Slow line between Borivali and Andheri, while Down Fast services will run on the Down Slow line between Andheri and Goregaon. Certain Up and Down suburban services will be cancelled, and some Andheri and Borivali trains on the Harbour line will be short-terminated at Goregaon.

“These maintenance blocks allow us to carry out track, signalling, and overhead work safely. While there may be delays and cancellations, the long-term reliability of the system depends on regular upgrades,” said Vineeth Abhishek, Chief public relation officer of Western Railway.

Central Railway will simultaneously operate a four-hour Mega Block affecting the Main, Harbour and Trans-Harbour lines. On the Main Line, both Up and Down slow services between CSMT and Vidyavihar will remain affected from 10.55 am to 3.55 pm.

Down slow trains departing CSMT between 10.48 am and 3.45 pm will run on the Down Fast line up to Vidyavihar, halting at Byculla, Parel, Dadar, Matunga, Sion and Kurla before switching back to the slow line. Up slow trains leaving Ghatkopar between 10.19 am and 3.52 pm will be diverted to the Up Fast line till CSMT, halting at all major stations.

On the Harbour Line, services between Panvel and Vashi (excluding the Port Line) will be cancelled from 11.05 am to 4.05 pm. All Panvel–CSMT and CSMT–Belapur/Panvel services during this period will remain suspended.

The Trans-Harbour corridor will also see cancellations. Panvel–Thane trains departing between 11.02 am and 3.53 pm (Up) and 10.01 am and 3.20 pm (Down) will not run. However, services between Thane and Vashi/Nerul will continue to operate. Port Line services will also run as usual.
