According to sources, police will apply to the Bandra court for transit remand to take Bhatt from Mumbai to Udaipur. (File Photo)Two employees of director Vikram Bhatt’s production house were booked on Friday for allegedly stealing hard disks with raw footage of his movies and mobile phones from the office and selling it for a profit.
According to an officer, an FIR was registered against Jitendra Sharma and Rakesh Panigrahi based on a complaint given by Bhatt’s company’s production manager. As per the FIR, Bhatt noticed that since March 2025, disks from his office were going missing. Suspecting his account manager, Rakesh Panigrahi, Bhatt asked production manager Khan to keep an eye on him.
Khan found that one Jitendra Sharma, who worked under Panigrahi, had all the disks in his possession. Whenever any staff member needed a disk for work, Sharma provided it after seeking permission from Panigrahi.
“Over the past few months, however, when the staff sought disks, Sharma would not provide it under one excuse or the other,” a official said.
On September 13, when another person at the office asked Sharma about the disks, he allegedly said that he had sold them to one Ashok Krush on Panigrahi’s orders for Rs 5,000–6,000 each, with half of the money allegedly going to Pranigrahi. Up to 10 disks were sold.
When Bhatt’s staff asked Sharma to return the disks, he switched off his phone and stopped coming to work. Panigrahi also stopped coming to the office and did not return the company’s mobile phones following which a complaint was given at the Versova police station.
The police registered the case against Pranigrahi and Sharma under Sections 316 (4) (criminal breach of trust) and 3 (5) (general explanation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
