Two days after a dolphin got stranded in the Amba river at Nagothane near Alibaug, another dolphin has fallen into the same predicament.
Rescue operations using kayaks are currently on at the spot.

On Wednesday, an 8-foot Indo-Pacific humpbacked dolphin was stuck in shallow waters of the river around 10 am 40 kilometres from sea. Later that day, even as the forest department roped in local fishermen for the rescue mission, the dolphin found its way out of the shallow waters as the high tide set in. Locals had reported that a ‘rescue’ party of four dolphins were found in deeper waters and it was estimated that they were responding to distress calls.
After confirming the dolphin at the spot at 7.30 pm, a stretcher to carry the 200-kg dolphin was made by 11 pm to the tempo to transport it to Dharmantar creek, 20 km away. As the boats were lowered, high tide set in and the dolphins left the spot.
