Two arrested for creating fake MHADA website to dupe people
The two accused said they too had been promised MHADA houses due to which they agreed to create the website. The main accused, however, didn't have any authority to get them a MHADA flat and was duping them as well."

THE MUMBAI police Wednesday arrested two persons including the web developer and the graphic designer who created a fake MHADA website that looked similar to the original one to dupe people. Ironically, the duo too was duped by the two main accused arrested earlier who had promised them a MHADA house in exchange for creating the website.
A senior officer said, “Apart from the two accused arrested earlier, we have arrested two others who were involved in creating the website. The two accused said they too had been promised MHADA houses due to which they agreed to create the website. The main accused, however, didn’t have any authority to get them a MHADA flat and was duping them as well.”
On Sunday, the crime branch had arrested two persons identified as Kalpesh Sevak and Amol Patel. During their interrogation, the police came to know about the other two accused arrested on Wednesday. The police are checking if any of the accused have links to MHADA officers as the victims who were promised houses at cheap rates were actually given tours of these houses.
“Unless they had links to someone, they would not be able to get the keys to these houses. We are checking if any insider is involved,” said an officer. So far, the police have found that 12-13 persons have been duped and have totally lost nearly Rs 50 lakh.
