Thief arrested for raping neighbour

The Nirmal Nagar police arrested a 26-year-old man,who has several theft cases against him,for allegedly raping his 20-year-old neighbour in the wee hours of Monday in Bandra. Police said she and her two sons were asleep in the house and her husband,a watchman,was on night duty,when the accused,Sagar Kubada,who stays next door,broke open the door and entered the victim’s residence.

The victim,a housewife,woke up hearing the noise and Kubada allegedly threw some powder on her face which made her unconscious. He then allegedly raped her and then threatened her not to tell anyone about the incident.

Senior Police Inspector Prashant Bagade of Nirmal Nagar police station said,“The incident took place between 4 am and 6 am on Monday. The victim registered a complaint,following which we have arrested Kubada. There were many petty crimes registered against him in the past.”
