Last week, during a press conference, Ajit Pawar said he has “absolutely no role in the land deal”. (file)Activist Anjali Damania Wednesday demanded the resignation of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and said that his son, Parth, should be named as an accused in the FIR in connection with allegations of irregularities in a multi-crore Pune land deal.
Parth Pawar holds a 99 per cent stake in Amadea Enterprises LLP, the firm that purchased 40 acres of land in Mundhwa, near the upmarket Koregaon Park area, in Pune city.
The Opposition has alleged that the land, reportedly worth ₹1,800 crore, was sold to Amedea Enterprises LLP for ₹300 crore with a stamp duty waiver of ₹21 crore. The land in question is a Mahar Watan land in the Pune district, and according to the rules, this particular category of land cannot be sold without prior approval from the state government.
“Ajit Pawar and Parth Pawar were in the know of the 40-acre Mundhwa land deal in Pune. Therefore, they cannot get away without any probe or punishment.”
Amid growing pressure from the Opposition and social activists, Ajit Pawar has distanced himself from the issue. “I have absolutely no role in the land deal. Yet, I am being dragged into the controversy,” Ajit Pawar reiterated Wednesday.
He has also maintained that his elder son, Parth, was unaware of the land deal.
“A land deal of such proportion cannot take place without political patronage,” Damania alleged.
Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis promised action against all those responsible for the Pune land deal. Fadnavis has stated that the criminal case related to the Mahar Watan land deal will continue even after the land deal is scrapped. Strong action will be taken against all those responsible in the case, he said.
Last week, during a press conference, Ajit Pawar said he has “absolutely no role in the land deal”. “Neither I nor anybody from my office had any idea or role in the issue. Even my son Parth was not involved in the land deal.”
“The committee under additional chief secretary Vikas Kharge will submit the report, which will bear the facts and truth.”
While the Congress has slammed the government for the land deal, NCP (SP) has exercised a cautious approach in commenting on the matter regarding Ajit Pawar and Parth Pawar. The Shiv Sena (UBT) ’s response to this issue seemed half-hearted, with Ambadas Danve alone raising questions.
Whereas, NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar said, “If there is anything wrong, appropriate action should be taken.” “The government appears prejudiced in taking action. It has been targeting selected persons. This should not happen.”
